Kitchen-Central consist of lines and stations much like the London Underground. There are two main lines namely Home Line and Web Line.
Home Line is for all the activities that are local to the household such as internal messaging, calendar, to-do-lists, etc. These activities on these stations do not require access to the Internet.

Web Line is for activities that require access to the Internet so that you can visit the large number of pre-configured web sites for recipes, grocery stores, etc. and have the ability to send email or simply browse the Net.

The Home Screen acts as the hub for the family. With one look, all the upcoming events on the calendar, outstanding messages and chores not yet completed are displayed for convenient and immediate reference.

The right (red) side of the Home Screen shows all the stations on the Home Line, and the left (blue) side shows the Web Line stations. You can access any one of the stations directly by simply clicking on the station. The sub menus or available options for each station selected appear on the opposite side and the information related to the station appears on the main screen. Kitchen Central features an extremely intuitive and simple user interface. This point-and-click interface is consistent throughout the application.
